This past May, David Perkes, director of the Gulf Coast Community Design Studio, and MCCP Director Carlton Turner, attended the ArtPlace Summit 2017. Held in Seattle, Washington, the Summit provided an opportunity for MCCP representatives to participate in workshops and informational sessions to learn more about the various Creative Placemaking projects across the nation.

Some of the projects that are inspiring us are Perry Avenue Commons in Chicago, IL and Detroit Cultivators in Detroit, MI. Both projects are using arts, agriculture, and design in their program to improve economic and cultural development in their respective communities.
