On September 10, 2018 Sipp Culture hosted teachers from the Utica Elementary / Middle School at Artist in Residence House for a Teacher’s Happy Hour. This event kicked off our recognition of Arts In Eduction Week (September 10 – 14). Sipp Culture provided food and non-alcoholic beverages as a show of appreciation for the teachers and their hard work.

Dr. Smith, principal of UEMS represented as did Mr. John Neal, Associate Superintendent of Community Relations for the Hinds County Public School District. We also had a fair number of teachers in attendance.

As part of the work of Sipp Culture, we provided some opportunities for the teachers to provide some feedback and present some ideas on how they see the work of Sipp Culture as an extension of the school, and how the physical spaces associated with Sipp Culture could be an in service of the school environment. We received great feedback and are looking forward to additional opportunities to grow our relationship with the school.
