MLK Day of Service 2020

On January 20, 2020 more than fifty volunteers joined the Sipp Culture Team to help install eleven raised beds for the residence garden. Volunteers from Americorps and the United Way joined members and friends of the Utica community to move soil, spread stones, dig trenches, and assemble more than 500 square feet of beds and share sandwiches and hot bowls of homemade gumbo.

The beds will act as the foundation and first step for the Sipp Culture Residency House to have a food secure and sustainable future. We will work on building a greenhouse on the property as well as planting more than twenty fruit trees and additional raised row no-till gardening.

We appreciate all who came out to support this event and look forward to continuing building in opportunities for the community to take part in this important work.
