Jess is a Jackson State University (JSU), B.A., Political Science major. They are a MS Delta native from Clarksdale, MS. Jess has experience in public speaking as an activist/community organizer speaking on social justice issues, as they relate to all Black lives, especially Black youth and Black LGBTQ lives, and raises awareness on all Black women and girls validity, issues, and humanization.

They are a freelance writer who has blogged for several media outlets on these issues. Jess’s passion and professional career has been rooted in rural, small town, southern, and cultural organizing and programmatic operations. They have served as a communications chair and co-chair in BYP 100’s Jackson chapter. Jess is also a published playwright whose work has reflected the lives and cultural impact of Civil Rights Activists in the MS Delta.
